A personal Note from Araceli

Dear community,

I hope you are well. Some of you might not know that I have been blessed to be Country Coordinator of Fashion Revolution UAE for already 7 years. Fashion Revolution is very close to my heart. It connects with my values and what I stand for as a person and if you dont know what it is, let me explain.

Fashion Revolution is a community-led not-for-profit initiative raising awareness about the many social and enviromental impacts the fashion industry has and how to make it better. We organise ourselves in countries. 

Every year, we organise locally but globally the Fashion Revolution Week during a particular week in April. It is our way to pay hommage to the people that got injured and died at the Rana Plaza colapse. 

And this year our volunteers and I have put a lot of love and effort into creating this programme for Fashion Revolution Week 2026 and we want to invite you and ask you for your support.

See if you can join the events- they are all free (and fun!) and share them with your friends and family. Have a look! I am sure you find something that resonates with you!

This year for example, we are collecting clothes because we would love to start doing clothes swaps more frequently, and your donations would help us kickstart that activity (and reduce what otherwise might end up in the landfill). So, if you are doing your spring cleaning, think of us! (and give me a call!)

Below, I am sharing the full programme with you. Some events are online, some in person.. so even if you are away, there is no excuse.

An online Earth Day panel discussion bringing together voices from fashion, food, energy, water and waste to explore how deeply interconnected today’s challenges are.

Mend in Public | Film Screening | Q&A

Thrift For Good Al Quoz- 23 April, 5:00 PM

Held at Thrift for Good Shop and Sustainability Hub, this in-person gathering will combine mending, film screenings and a live Q&A, while also marking the launch of the Crafters Corner.

Find Your People, Change The System | Panel Discussion

Online- 24 April, 6:00 PM

An online conversation on the power of community and how collective effort can support sustainable initiatives and create real local impact, moderated by the S Word Podcast team.

Fashion Revolution Week Big Day! 

Blumi Cafe- 25 April, 10:00 AM-6:00 PM

Sustainable Fashion Friends Meet Up & so much more

Hosted at Blumi Cafe, this in-person community day will include a social breakfast gathering, workshops, collective making of a banner, a clothing swap, clothes collection, a community showcase and the presentation of works connected to the Dress to Fly competition.

This is also a wonderful day to bring clothes you would like to donate and help us build momentum for future swap initiatives.

Online- 26 April, 6:00 PM

An online panel discussion exploring how digital culture and social media trends influence the way we consume, desire and relate to fashion.

Thrift for Good Al Quoz- 27 April, 6:00 PM

Taking place at Thrift for Good Shop and Sustainability Hub in Al Quoz, this session will focus on styling preloved fashion with intention and confidence, while helping participants rethink the way they build outfits and wardrobes.

Grand Finale: Dress to Fly Fashion Design Competition

Online- 28 April, 6:00 PM

The week will close with the online grand finale of Dress to Fly, celebrating creative talent, new ideas and more conscious possibilities for fashion design in the region.
